Re: Cambodia - French Woman Dies from an Asthma Attack

I hear what you're saying, and I know even over here in the UK you don't always need an autopsy if you have a pre-existing condition and a doctor signs off your death certificate with the likely cause.... I was referencing Simone's broad statement that Cambodia doesn't perform autopsies, though, due to lack of expensive scalpels and what not.... I'd be more tempted to believe it's because, and is only acceptable because, it's a Buddhist country.

Or the fact that it's true.

Cambodia is a very poor country, they do not have the equipment for doing autopsies, nor do they have more than a few mortuaries.

The deceased are always buried very quickly after death. If someone is wanting an autopsy for their relative, it would be very costly, as like I said, it is not routine as it's so expensive.

Buddhists have nothing against autopsies either.

I haven't seen many reported in recent months. The few that were, I couldn't find decent images of. I managed to get quite a few decent enough ones with this one though, so at least that's something.

Smoking and asthma are probably not the best mix, not to mention the alcohol on top of it.

Really? They believe dissection affects the rebirth.

Do you believe everyone is buried, then?

Again, Buddhists do not prohibit autopsies.

No, cremation is usually done.

You stated the deceased are always buried quickly after death. Do you really think autopsies aren't carried out because the country is so poor rather than the buddhist beliefs? Yet the families are the ones who care for the bodies after death. You make no sense.
