In Kompong Thom Province (Cambodia), 36 year old 'S' lived in a hut with her husband 39 year old 'J'. The little hut had been their home for the last 3 years.

'S' had liver disease due to her alcoholism. On the morning of 7th July 2019, 'J' went out to buy medicine for his wife. At 10am, he returned + found that 'S' had died.

I admit this particular case makes me really sad for this woman and her husband. That "hut" is pathetic.......who wanted drink themselves silly living like that?? No doubt the poor lady has been sick for many months; no money for proper hospitalization and treatment. And this may seem silly but the last straw is seeing her lying there with that damned dirty old blouse buttoned up all cock-eyed!! I wish her nothing but to rest in eternal peace.

The "hut" can't even be called a proper hut, it's a hastily constructed temporary shelter at best. The couple was probably reduced to this because of the woman's drinking problem.

I can think of little worse than to die uncomfortable and alone whilst one's loved ones are out frantically searching for help to relieve the suffering.

Yesterday I went into a coffee shop to escape the heat and this old guy sucking straight from a small Don-Q bottle across the street, you could tell he was homeless but still had enough pride to keep his clothes neat, he came over and stepped just inside the door. Put his forehead up against the rack of coffee and tourist stuff and stood there, his eyes closed. Looked early 60's, something military vet about him, probably been on the street for decades. I thought of this lady. Homelessness is tough at any age, absolute hell if you're elderly.
