At least six rural workers were killed and many injured in an accident involving five buses, a military police vehicle, a truck and a car.
The disaster occurred on the morning of Friday (25th May 2012).
The bus, according to the information, followed by train were transporting workers to harvest coffee on a farm.
The Health Department says 207 injured in the crash have been treated at the Regional Hospital in the city. Of the total, 60 are women and 147 are men. Five buses, a truck and a car from the Bahia Police became involved in an accident during the morning. Six other people died. According to the Civil Police, two victims were 53 years old, one 44, one 31 and another 24 years. The sixth has not been identified. The bodies of the victims are already in the Department of Technical Police (DPT).
Among the wounded, the department reports that 16 have been serious. Besides them, most suffered minor abrasions, but no fractures. Twelve ambulances assist the situation by shifting the injured to health facilities in neighboring towns.
