In Jan 1949 Burma army truck's under the control of General Ne Win who later became the nation's dictator,drove through Karen neighbourhood's north of Rangoon and announced that Karen women be raped and Karen children be killed.So began the campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Karen people of Burma,in response the Karen revolution started,58 year's later it is the longest running resistance movement in the world. The soldier's in these photo's have been fighting a very long time.They vow never to surrender to do so would expose there people to outright slaughter.   |
