yeah odd about the broom, i thought maybe he used it to pull the trigger if he couldn't reach but the broom is nowhere near the trigger.
It could have moved after rigormortis set in his hands or could have been nerves

I think he was reaching the trigger with the broom - which isn't a "broom" at all, but and brush end of a long ice scraper. I know it seems as if the "broom" is too far from the trigger, but that's, most likely, how it fell after he shot himself. No one can control just how the cookie crumbles.
