British Man, 24, Decapitated After Falling From the Hilton Hotel in Thailand

In the early hours of May 29th, 2014, police and medics were called to the Pattaya Hilton Hotel, situated above Central Festival Pattaya Beach, to investigate reports of a British man who had fallen from a high floor onto a 2nd floor balcony.

The dead man, 24, from Swindon, UK. His body was taken to the morgue as investigators documented the crime scene.

The victim was decapitated and it is thought this occurred as he struck the 2nd floor balcony.

The following passage is from a crowdfunding campaign setup by family members to raise money for suicide prevention:

"We do not know, and will almost certainly never know the exact circumstances surrounding the death. What we do know though, is that in the days immediately before his death, he was in some kind of emotional crisis.

For whatever reason, he felt unable to talk to anyone about what he was going through… whatever it was that troubled him, he felt unable to reach out for help…

I personally feel that had he felt able to pick up the phone and reach out, he would not have been sitting alone with his thoughts in that room, instead, a much loved Son, Brother and Friend… would be here with us now, eating Dominos (without onions) and sitting up until the early hours watching YouTube videos of kids falling over, or debates involving his hero, Christopher Hitchens.

So the charity… work to show young people that there is help and support available. That even if you can't talk to your family or friends, there is always someone available to help.”

For fundraising, the family organized a charity bike ride. Unfortunately, the victim's father died from sudden heart failure during the event. Here are some excerpts:

A businessman collapsed and died from heart failure during a charity bike ride in memory of his son.

The victim, 58, fell over a wall in Nice, France, as he took party in the cycle for his son, 24, who plunged to his death from a hotel window in Thailand. It was discovered that he died from sudden heart failure and not from his injuries.

The inquest heard that the victim toppled 12ft over a concrete wall and was found dead by his son as they rode together in Nice.

His brother said he had been cycling in front of his father when he suddenly heard him shout 'stop!' and heard a loud noise of metal scraping on concrete.

He added that as he span around to see what was happening, he saw to his horror that his father had lost his balance and was tipping over the parapet.

In the horrifying moments that followed, he said that his father had fallen for several seconds before he struck the hard ground below.

By the time his son and the other cyclists had taken to reach his injured father, blood was pooling around his head and mouth and a nearby resident was calling the local paramedics.

A post-mortem examination conducted in France revealed that none of the injuries he had sustained had been fatal.

However, pathologists did find he had a slightly enlarged heart, which was prone to cardiac arrhythmias when combined with a lot of exercise.

Interesting that foreigners frequently fall to their death there, and is almost always ruled a suicide. I'm not really convinced so many people would travel so far across the world simply to kill themselves.

These dudes have the money to take an international flight, staff at a nice hotel and for what? To jump off a balcony.... I'd save the dough and just kill yourself in your home country.
