The three men were victims, not robbers. On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, 2009, gunmen ambushed an Isuzu Panther owned by cash-handling company PT Kelola Jasa Arta at Desa Gulon, Kecamatan Salam, Magelang Regency, Central Java, on the road from Magelang to Yogyakarta. The vehicle was transporting cash collected from Bank Danamon branches in Magelang and Muntilan. A Suzuki APV blocked the Panther, and the three occupants were each shot in the head: driver Agus Sutrimo, cash handler Arif Wirahadi, and Brigadier Murdiyono, a Mobile Brigade police officer assigned as armed escort. The Panther then struck an electricity pole after leaving the road. The attackers fled when bystanders approached, having failed to take the roughly two billion rupiah because they could not locate the safe key. Brigadier Kusdarmanto, a serving Mobile Brigade officer who fired the shots, was arrested at his Yogyakarta home two days later. Sentenced to death in 2010, he had the sentence upheld on appeal and cassation, while the Supreme Court rejected his final review in 2021. Co-defendant Syamsul Bahri also received a death sentence.

During a robbery, a car owned PT KEJAR (Kelola Jasa Artha) Securicor going to Yogyakarta after taking the money in Bank Danamon Muntilan and Magelang. But on the highway they were fired upon by a herd of robbers numbering about 5-6 people. Arriving at the scene, Jl. Raya Jogja-Magelang Km 27. PT Securicor car chase stopped after crashing into a telephone pole and 3 people on board were killed. The 3rd victim was killed, hit by a bullet from a herd of robbers. 3 victims were known to a member of DIY and 2 Police officers chase PT Securicor. Got a shootout between robbers numbering 5-6 people with the victim. They also romp. "There is resistance, the offender fled towards Yogya with driving a car carrying 5-6 people" who know the local people said the incident.

It happened Tuesday afternoon 15 September 2009 around 16.30 pm. Exactly in front of Radio Merapi Beautiful, about 1 km from the border monument Yogyakarta Magelang. Victims of robbery hitchhike Panther B 8339 MW which was driving at. Raya Magelang Km 27, Magelang. The car is owned PT KEJAR (Kelola Jasa Artha) Securicor. Cars marked in blue Catch that wrecked on the front due to hit a utility pole.

Monitoring at the site last night on the windshield, several former gunfire. Then two of the three victims were killed visible suffered a bullet wound in the head. A rifle was seen lying in the car. Immediately after the incident scene is very lively atmosphere visited by people who want to watch the action from close brutal crime. The police was busy because of traffic jam several miles because the road is a main road access to the Yogyakarta Magelang. But the sadistic robbers numbering 5-6 people do not have time to take money that transported a car owned by PT Jasa Artha Management (Catch) Securicor because many people are hysterical and running near the crime scene and traffic jams.
