Excellent...you are correct and win a gold (or in this case a bloody) star. I couldn't see the size of the case because there wasn't really anything to judge size by in the photo, but the shape and color looks an awful lot like the AK family. But you knew there was a difference and that is pretty cool. Either one at close range is gonna ruin your day.  |

After looking closer I can sorta make out a man's hand under the plastic that the cases are resting on and I think they're too fat to be 5.56x39. Could be wrong though.

Yes, the round looks like the 7.62 variety (examine the cartridge where it grips the bullet compared to the overall length, similar to the 7.62x39). I agree with the later post by 30564U indicating the 7.62 larger cartridge. |

They look to me like 7.62x25 pistol ans sub-machinegun ammunition. At any rate they did for the poor bastard.
