There are lever action guns in 308 Win, I have never seen one in 30-06. Many lever guns are 30-30, 45-70 or pistol calibers. I think 30-06, a little more energy than 308, is a bit much for the lever action to handle, but I am not a firearm designer. Anyway, 45-70 is a popular lever gun for deer hunting, and it shoots a BIG bullet (.457 inch or thereabouts) relatively slowly. I know a .45 auto from a pistol (slow bullet, like 800 feet per second) will blow a head apart (an old friend had to clean up after a .45 suicide), so I guess a .45-70 would do just as well. Over pressure wave can push the brain out like that. 30-06 a little too powerful and long for a lever action, I agree with the 30-30 or possibly .35 caliber |
