Just make sure that if you're gonna die, you die in the States. That way when you piss or shit yourself, the only people that will see it are the medical staff dealing with your body and whoever finds you.

Most of these poor ladies die in countries where they slap them in full color on Page 4 of the local newspaper, dead, wet, messy, bloody, naked, whatever. It's a perilously short trip from there to the blogosphere or Twitter and then on to DR fame.

I wonder why that is. We know life is treated more callously in those countries where freak accidents and murder are much more common... but in the instances of suicide is reporting the gross details some kind of measure to dissuade it to the readers? Does the deceased’s family get up in arms about having their daughter laid exposed with jeans full of piss for the entire community to gawk at? Or is it just considered the norm?

Lot of variables there. The only country that consistently reports extensive physical details from suicide scenes to the newspapers is Indonesia. They do it in the interest of transparency to inform the public that the physical findings all correlate to suicidal signs and that the body carried no evidence to link a homicide. Five years ago, every paper I read from there included these details. Nowadays, many of them will simply say "Various physical signs on the body pointed to suicidal hanging", whereas one or two will quote the police verbatim and say "Pants wet with urine, anal area soiled with feces." Et cetera. So there has been a gradual shift in that sort of reporting towards a sense of greater propriety. On Indonesian social media, where many of these details and images are leaked, there are occasional complaints about their inclusion, but it general tends to be an accepted standard.

As to the other issue, it is also somewhat arbitrarily divided. Some sites censor urine and blood both. Some one or the other. Many will only publish photos where the sordid details like urine-soaked pants are obscured by objects or are cropped out of the photos. A lot of the photos I post in this thread, I obtained from contacting reporters directly and asking for uncropped images. The images, as originally posted in the news, did not necessarily include the urine, but the uncropped images do. Sometimes I get additional scene details in the process.

Anyway, by and large, the presence of visible urine in images does not seem to disturb the family or the public any more than the dead photos themselves, at least in my experience. If someone on social media makes a rude or humiliating comment about the bladder/bowel void, people will usually respond and tell them to stop being rude. But those comments are rare in the news and social media commentary sections. It usually simply isn't addressed and people make no mention of it in the photographs.

There was a girl in Mexico early this year who hung herself at a train station and urinated pretty heavily down both legs. In her case, there were pages of discussion on many of the news sites and threads specifically talking about the urine pattern on her pants and debating about whether the voiding could have occurred during a strangulation instead of a suicidal hanging. But even mentioning it is pretty rare and that case was unique in that regard.

For the most part, it is generally considered a normal artifact of violent death and they see it often enough down there that it doesn't add any level of impact for most of them beyond what the corpse itself does.

This one? Nah, her throat was cut. And very little urine on the front, but more on her derriere.

But yes, your other observation is not wrong. Perimortem urination is both the most common and typically the most prolific in hanged women.

You're actually correct. Urine patterns are sometimes odd in and of themselves, to be honest.

But yes, in this girl's case, she likely lost bladder control when lying prostrate on the ground and it all flowed backwards. I've got the video somewhere and her ass is indeed thoroughly soaked with urine.
