Beslan School Massacre
The Beslan school siege began when a group of armed Chechen separatists took more than 1,200 schoolchildren and adults hostage on September 1, 2004, at School Number One in the town of Beslan, North Ossetia-Alania, (an autonomous republic in the North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation). 334 civilians were killed, including 186 children, and hundreds were wounded. That's horrible.  Pic 6 is especially sad..... that guy is standing by a very small child, and probably doesn't even know it's by his feet. I'll never understand why people take out their anger on children. |

If I remember correctly, much of the death toll was because of the authorities pulling a Waco and storming the building with little regard for civilian lives - though of course they wouldn't have had to do that if the terrorist pricks hadn't used kids in their idiot plans in the first place  |

The Beslan school hostage crisis (also referred to as the Beslan school siege or Beslan massacre)began when a group of armed terrorists, demanding an end to the Second Chechen War, took more than 1,100 people (including 777 children) hostage on September 1, 2004, at School Number One (SNO) in the town of Beslan, North Ossetia-Alania, an autonomous republic in the North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation. On the third day of the standoff, Russian security forces stormed the building using tanks, thermobaric rockets and other heavy weapons.[6] A series of explosions shook the school, followed by a fire which engulfed the building and a chaotic gunbattle between the hostage-takers and Russian security forces. Ultimately, at least 334 hostages were killed, including 186 children. Hundreds more were wounded or reported missing.
