Belém Council Candidate "Senhorita Andreza" Shot Dead on April 13, 2017
Andreza Ariane Castro de Sousa, 22, was shot dead near her home in the Cabanagem neighborhood of Belém, Brazil, at about 8:30 p.m. on April 13, 2017. Known as "Senhorita Andreza," she had run for the Belém City Council as a PCdoB candidate in 2016. Two men on a motorcycle approached as Sousa walked with a female friend along Rua Bom Sucesso near Avenida Independência. She ran into a closed car wash and tried to hide, but the gunmen cornered her and shot her five times, mostly in the head and back. The attackers also killed a dog. The Civil Police Homicide Division classified the killing as an execution. No shooter was publicly identified. PCdoB officials in Pará attributed the killing to militias, but police did not name a group or suspect. Sousa had been arrested in 2016 in a drug investigation. Her husband had been shot dead in the same area in December 2016. |

That is serious head injury. It is sad that such a young, pretty girl is dead because of the violence that drugs bring. RIP!  |
