So he was shot in the knee, chest and he shot him self under the chin, and then what? The police cuffed him and dragged him to where he died? It sounds like he was trying to use someone as a human shield and then just shot himself.
The shooter was able to run to the second floor atrium, where he was soon cornered and, after being shot by a police bullet, the perp pulled out his handgun and shot himself. Meanwhile wounding 20 people and shooting the dead victim nine times. It was all over within minutes.

The lawyer, according to a broadcast report, ducked behind a car when shooting began, and kept the bag with him. Mr. Gill proceeded into Dawson College..... He used at least two other hostages as human shields during the shooting rampage.
