Another Young Mexican Woman Found With Throat Slashed
18 year old girl had been sent by her mother to pick some things up at the store. She did not return that evening. Mother said the girl had had issues with drugs in the past and sometimes stayed out for a few days at a time, so she wasn't super worried. Apparently she should have been. They found the daughter the next morning lying dead with a large wound on her throat. Initial reports were unclear and unsure as to whether her throat was slit with a blade or if the injury was caused by brutal strangulation. She did have a metal chain accessory embedded in the wound, so the possibility was raised that she may have been garroted with her own necklace. Hard to tell with the limited photos whether that chain could have effectively been used, but I'd say it's strong enough. The wound is pretty ghastly and deep, though, and usually a garrote death will have multiple signs of strangulation as well. I see very few of those on her cadaver. Her eyes are equally open/closed (in many asphyxiation cases one will be more open than the other), her tongue is not protruding (very common in garroting deaths), I don't see any petechiae on her chin or cheeks or in the sclera, though the photo quality may be the reason for that. The crotch of her sweatpants looks very wet, but involuntary urination is not at all uncommon in any sort of violent trauma and is certainly not restricted to strangulation. Pity there aren't better quality photos of the wound, but I'm likely too much of an amateur to infer much from it anyway. Here's the pics, sorry about the blurring and watermarking. I'll keep looking for better copies. |

Re: Another Young Mexican Woman Found With Throat Slashed
I found this in an article: "[...] encontraron a una mujer con una herida en el cuello, aparentemente provocada por un arma blanca." Which translates to: "[...] they found a woman with a wound to the neck, apparently made by a bladed weapon." (Note: "arma blanca" translates literally to "white weapon", but refers to a cutting or stabbing weapon) It's obviously not definitive, but I'd have a hard time imagining that her necklaces would cause that wound, so a knife seems much more likely. |
