Air India Worker Gets Sucked into Engine
An Air India technician died after getting sucked into the engine of Air India flight 619 in the bay of T2 Terminal at Mumbai airport. The employee was identified as Ravi Subramaniam. Here's what a technician is supposed to do before take off: The aircraft is pushed back with the towing bar. A technician is to go and remove a pin attached to the nose landing gear, once the plane reaches the taxi way. The removal of the pin allows the nose landing gear to retract after take off. Once the pin is removed, the technician signals the pilot that the plane is cleared for taxiing. In this particular incident, the plane's parking brake was not deployed. The plane moved forward and the technician got sucked in. The tow bar has been damaged as well. During taxiing the auxiliary power unit is used to run the AC and lights inside the aircraft. The APU might have been malfunctioning, due to which the engine was switched on. A link to the story: http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/h.../1/549559.html |
