Re: African Guerrilla Hit by .50 BMG
Stands for .50 Browning Machine Gun it is a cartridge made for the Browning .50 Machine gun. The bullets size is 5.5 inches long. Usually it is an anti-material bullet used for long range sniper rifles, also you can see it sometimes mounted on a tank, HHMMVV, Hueys, base guard post in Iraq, and PT boats it can pierce a light armor vehicles and can post serious damage on an aircraft especially helos. The damage in that guys body means that this bullet means serious business.

Re: African Guerrilla Hit by .50 BMG
Funny enough, rarely is the .50 BMG used for conventional anti material jobs anymore. Enter the 20mm round, used not only in CANNONS, but a brand new Barret Anti Material Sniper Rifle as well. Holy Goodness... http://www.lonestar-mvpa.org/images/.../50cal20mm.JPG |

Re: African Guerrilla Hit by .50 BMG
I thought when I read the title it was going to be another softball size hole in the head. A fifty will only make that hole size miles away. Depending on the angle you may get this much damage out of a 50 BMG round. I doubt it though. It was not an incinerator round. We think today of sniper rifles. Do not discount 50 BMG damage from machine guns with multiple hits. |
