A 35-year-old African American man driving an Acura vehicle died when he rear-ended a parked semi-truck in San Diego, California. The driver allegedly drifted into the semi-truck which was parked along the curb. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

I always get a kick out of the, "African American" term. Like, really??? Just another way to divide the Nation. So, then, there's Irish American, Indian American, British American, and so on and on. What a fucking stupid fucking world this is.

Actually, heritage DOES matter.

However subtle they might be, there are plenty of cultural/political/social/physical differences between the ancestries and heritages of multi-generation Americans.

For one you have the Italian Americans. Most of them (not all) reside in the Northeast and industrialized areas of the Midwest. That means mid-sized and larger cities in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. And almost everywhere in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. They tend to be shorter than the average Caucasian male. They tend to have traditional (you could say "conservative") views on morality and the likes. They're the only political forces that prevent states like CT & NJ from voting almost 100% Democratic. Look at Staten Island, the whitest and most conservative borough of NYC. It's also the most Italian borough, by far.

You have the Scandinavian Americans. They reside mostly in rural/small-town areas of the upper Midwest. That's Minnesota, North Dakota and upper Wisconsin. They're politically split. They tend to be MUCH taller than average, a sharp contrast to the Italian American population. Very blonde.

And then there's the German Americans. They reside all over the US, but the highest concentration is in the Midwest and West as well as Pennsylvania/Upstate NY. They're harder to find in the South and New England. They tend to be fairly conservative, politically AND socially. Many of those lower-income farmers in the Plains States (Nebraska and South Dakota, especially) have German blood. They're generally taller than average, although they could go either way. Fairly light-skinned and light-haired.

You have Scots-Irish, who tend to be more conservative on average. They can be found throughout the Southern US (I'm an Arkansas native with heavy Scottish and Irish blood), as well as Northern New England (Maine especially). They vary in height and weight though.

The full-blooded Irish are very prevalent throughout the US. But the greatest concentration tends to be in the Northeast and Appalachian South. They're more liberal than their Scots-Irish counterparts, on average.

And then you have African-Americans (the greatest concentration of them is in the Deep South), French-Americans (commonplace in Louisiana and Northern New England), Russian Americans, Polish Americans (I believe they're very common in the Great Lakes states for whatever reason).

Heritage DOES matter to an *extent*, but I definitely agree with your point. I have never seen the need to judge someone by their bloodline. I don't care whether you're Ted Bundy's kin or a fucking Kennedy. Bloodline isn't everything. There are no absolutes.

Reminds me of a crash I drove by just after it had happened. Emergency personnel were are the site but I remember two decapitated people in the crashed Corvette. A sight you never forget.
