Adolescent Asphyxiates After Sneaking Out
This female adolescent sneaked out of the house in order to meet some friends. When she returned home very late, she used a ladder to try and pull herself back through her window. While opening the window slats, she lost her balance and the ladder fell out from under her. Her head was wedged between the slats and the weight of her body pulling down slowly asphyxiated her as she dangled. Her mother was passed out (allegedly drunk, though that may be sensationalism) inside and did not hear her daughter struggling and strangling. She was seen by a passerby shortly after she died. COD was asphyxiation. Several local neighbors commented in the various news threads that the girl was a troublemaker and often bullied other kids and made chaos in the neighborhood. It seems no one will really miss her, but most of them seem to be blaming the mother for bringing her up badly. Not much in the way of photos, but it happened just the other night and was an interesting story with a lot of local coverage, so I figured she was worth posting. Color full w/watermark, color partial w/out, and black-and-white full without. But all basically the same image.  ·  ·  · |

That is bizarre. A "window" consisting of slats. I guess that is the best that they have in some areas. Rough way to go.

The windows are slats. So after losing her balance she couldn’t lift herself out of that. She probably grabbed on to one Of them, not really realizing the other slats would not allow her space. Probably helped strangling her “quicker”.

It's a louvre window. The glass slats pivot in the middle. With the way they are designed and the way she got trapped on them, her chin acts like a lever on them, forcing them closed with her body weight. She wouldn't be able to back out again unless she could lift herself off the louvre, then she would be able to open them and slide out. The only other way would be to try and push on through, but again, without the leverage of the stepladder or a lot of upper body strength, it would be too difficult, with intoxication and panic making it even harder.
