None of this was interrogation it was out and out abuse.
Some of the inmates at Abu graib where very unpleasant characters including a group believed responsible for a series of child rapes and murders. They where brought to the prison because the local police feared for their lives when the locals threatened to murder them and the prisoners by setting fire to the police station.

Some where Iraqi civilians, some soldiers and others militia fighting for their country. We seem to forget that whilst the west thought we where doing the Iraqi people a great favour many saw it as what it was an invasion of their country. How would you react to a foreign nation invading your country would you become an "insurgent" and fight the invaders, or would you roll over and accept them saying "it's for your own good".

And yes I know what it was like over there, I am now disabled with spinal damage resulting from a mortar attack out there in 2005.
