An attempted robbery reported on the morning of Friday, ended tragically. According to witnesses, Barbosa da Silva Cosme, 70, was shot after responding to an assault on a bus stop.

The victim, who sold sugar cane on the street, was hit in the abdomen and hastily bailed out by a unit of Service Mobile Emergency Care (MECS), shortly after being taken to the General State Hospital (HGE). At the hospital, Cosme succumbed to his injuries and died.

According to information from the police car, nothing was taken from the victim, including his wallet, which was still in one of the pockets with money. The military believes he had responded to a robbery committed by two armed men passing by on a bicycle.

The police carried out searches but could not find the suspects.
