Hoods and gangsters are known to shove small caliber backup guns right down next to their "you know". or contraband stuffs like drugs or stolen jewelries. if the police there are anywhere like ours, chances are, only half of whatever they find (drugs, money, jewelries, etc) gets declared. the rest goes right back to the street peddlers.
