If you're lucky it will wake you up in time. Survived one when I was seven or so. Wasn't much burnt up but lots of smoke damage. Woke up with my eyes burning enough to see light dancing on the door and notice smoke in the room from ceiling to about three or four feet from the floor. Had we not got up then we would've been fucked. Except my uncle in the basement, maybe.
