In September last year, 26-year-old Christian Larsson from the small town Bollnäs, 240 km north of Stockholm, was tortured, murdered and dismembered. Three 19-year-old men are now convicted for the cruel murder and are awaiting their verdict.

September 7 2010. Christian and his friend Johan Flykt are both involved in minor drug deals and use narcotic pills and hash.

But this day something goes wrong between the two friends. Johan accuses Christian of having stolen 40-50 pills of of the stimulant ADHD drug Ritalin.

The row escalates and Johan and his old classmate Andreas Clarström decides to "intimidate" Christian and lures him to an apartment in Bollnäs, where also Dennis Jonsson arrives.

The beating was brutal and can be compared to torture. During an hour was Christian subjected to ruthless violence

Christian is first beaten in the living room. Then his hands and feet are taped and he is placed in the bathtub with a rag in his mouth. The trio then proceeds by pouring cold water over him, beat him, and stabs him with a knife around 30 times. He is finally stabbed several times in his throat so that he dies.

"Then they got the idea that if they do away with the body they will destroy any evidence and not get caught," said police investigator Sune Nordh to newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.

The three 19-year-olds have known each other since they went to upper secondary school.

Andreas Clarström is described as a leader with high social skills. First, he admitted to the murder. But during the trial, he changed his mind and now only admits that he was involved in the beating and “violation against the peace of the grave”.

Johan Flykt is described as the silent type, who dropped out of school because of school fatigue. He has previously been convicted of vandalism and drug offences. Also Dennis Jonsson, who is described to have had a secure childhood, has similar earlier convictions.

After the murder the body was transported to a wooded area 20 km away. There they cut up the body and pulled out the teeth. Parts of this act is filmed with one of the defendants' mobile phones. Their own explanation for this is that they then could use the phone's LED to light up the darkness. But on the film one can see them teasing and laugh at the corpse.

The head is buried in the woods while the rest of the body is taken to public barbecue area north of Bollnäs. Here they attempt to burn the rest of the body before they put it in plastic bags they then throw in a lake.

“There are two films, one that is four minutes long and one who is 17. It is quite inconceivable that they are filming this, while describing what they do and what they will do with the body. But it is good evidence,” says Sune Nordh.

The apartment where the murder took place is then made clinically clean with bleach, and the tools used are boiled in order to remove fingerprints and DNA.

But a few days after the murder Johan can not stand to remain silent and he tells what happened to some friends. He felt threatened by the other two, and feared that they would lay the blame solely on him. One of them reported the murder to the police.

Thanks to interrogations and technical investigations the police succeed to get a pretty good picture of what happened.

Last Friday, the Bollnäs district court found the evidence convincing that the three men had murdered Christian.

The 19-year-olds will now undergo a psychiatric examination prior to their penal provisions.
