250 Bodies Donated to Science Found Decomposing
In May 2014 at the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain, 250 bodies were discovered abandoned in the basement. Most of the bodies were mummified + they had been donated for research purposes. After dissection the bodies were supposed to be disposed of in the incinerator but they had been there for 7 years. The room that the bodies were found in, measures about 25-30 square metres + has an unreachable window that's permanently closed . Some bodies were wrapped in shrouds without any identification, stuck together by blocks of ice, inside a noisy, cold room. Other corpses were in vats with formaldehyde. They were overcrowded so some were decomposed + had an unbearable smell. There were around 8-10 vats with about 10 corpses each. There's also another room that housed bodies that were awaiting incineration. The floors were slippery because of the fats + fluids that the bodies were releasing + maggots were coming out of their mouths. |
