Because he was drunk he may have become more disoriented than if he had not been drinking but nonetheless the inhalation of smoke probably knocked him out fairly quickly. Looked to me like he was trying to get out due to the body position. He was folded up on the floor. Likely trying to get to the door and became overcome by the smoke.

I don't know Toby, it looks like his brains boiled then steam pressure blew the top off his skull. His brains boiled over and onto his face where they cooked to a thick layer of ash.

Is one of those cards in his wallet a fake parole officer ID with the name "Roxy Silver"? There's a photo of him wearing a Quiksilver shirt and Roxy is a similar line of clothing, so I wonder if he came up with an alias by combining the names of those two companies.
