A Colitur bus carrying holiday travelers went off the Paraty-Trindade access road at Morro do Deus Me Livre in Paraty, Brazil, on September 6, 2015. Fifteen people were killed and about 62 were injured in the crash, which occurred during the Independence Day holiday weekend as the bus descended toward the coastal district of Trindade.

The driver, Marcel Magalhães Silva, 50, survived and was treated at a hospital in Ubatuba before being discharged the following day. Survivors told police that Silva had warned of brake trouble shortly before the bus left the road. Colitur partner Paulo Afonso said the vehicle's brakes and tires were in good condition. Police investigated whether the bus had been overcrowded and awaited a forensic examination to determine the cause.
