'Osprey' The Incredible Predator (Video)
Mother Nature at her finest - again. There are many of these in the NW and a smaller number in the midwestern U.S., and a few on the East coast. I've never before seen a bird shake water off its self . . like a dog does. And I wouldn't want to get in the way of an adult osprey him when he's got his eyes locked and his talons poised in their " load and ready to trigger into the shut" position! There are 3 sequences on this marvelous video. [ 1st sequence ] . . he captures almost half a dozen fish in one strike. [ 2nd sequence ] . . he plunges talons and head down into deeper water to grab prey off the bottom. [ 3rd sequence ] . . he captures a big fat fish that looks like it out weighs him but muscles it along in ' ground effect ' to acquire more speed. Then the osprey rearranges the fish during flight giving it less drag.
