Patrick Alan Selepak pled guilty Tuesday to nine felony charges in connection with the murder of a Vienna Township man and the armed robbery of a sporting goods store.



Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton read the charges before Circuit Judge Geoffrey Neithercut which will result in Selepak spending the rest of his life in prison. The charges include: first degree and felony murder, carjacking, armed robbery and related weapons charges. Judge Neithercut set sentencing for June 8, 2006. Selepak admitted to murdering Winfield Frederick Johnson, Jr. and robbing the Dunham’s Store in Flint Township.



Prosecutor Leyton stated: “I hope the convictions begin to bring some closure for the victim’s family and those who were assaulted. My heart goes out to them.” In response to claims that Selepak plead guilty to lessen the emotion for the victims, Leyton said: “There is nothing he can say or do at this stage that can change how I or the public looks at him. When I look at him, I see a cold blooded murderer.” Leyton concluded that “the only thing Patrick Selepak is sorry for is that he got caught and that he faces life in prison.”
