Frankfurt Airshow Biplane Crash Today
Family's Lucky Escape As Plane Hits Car 8:07pm UK, Tuesday July 14, 2009 A family in Germany has had a lucky escape after a plane which was taking part in an air show hit their car. The biplane was performing tricks including loops at a show near Frankfurt when it flew too low causing the pilot to lose control. The dramatic incident was caught on amateur video. It showed the aircraft smashing through a hedge and into the car, pushing it into a field in Grossostheim, 30 miles from the city. The impact of the collision tore the bottom frame off the plane. Amazingly both the family of three who were inside the car, and the pilot did not sustain major injuries. The married couple in the car suffered scratches while their daughter had minor wounds, but none had to be taken to the hospital. The pilot also suffered only minor injuries. They evaded what could have been a major, if not fatal, mishap. The car had been parked on an access road near the air field when it was struck. In a statement, police said: "Clearly guardian angels had a hand in the outcome." Source : Sky News
