Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was a scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that was tragically shot down on July 17, 2014, while flying over eastern Ukraine. All 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board were killed. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, was flying through an area of armed conflict between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed separatists at the time it was downed.
