I saw it in a doc about the battle for Hue. That was on the streets of Hue- first day of Tet offensive. He was an officer (Capt+), pretty sure Marines. RPG blast if I recall. Unknown if he survived.

Re: Vietnam War - Has Anyone Seen This Before?

PBS had a documentary in 2017 titled The Vietnam War by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick that has a lot of this type of footage. I'm not certain that it contains the clip you're asking about though, but for a TV documentary I was surprised at what they included as far as wounded and dead soldiers and civilians goes.

At the time the censorship of blood and gore was nowhere near what it is today. I spent most of my childhood and teens watching the raw reality of warfare every night on the 6pm news that news outlets today wouldn't dream of broadcasting.

I think war footage should be aired in its full glory on public television every single day. Instead, it's limited to sites like this and the result is the public thinks war is nice and clean and pretty, which is why they don't demand that it end like they did in the 60s and 70s.

Could not have better said it myself, never.

I did not grow up seeing insane shit on the news routinely but I did see the gulf war. My Marine cousin even sent me a few letters, one of them written in Iraq. And he now has health issues related to some funky chemicals he was exposed to over there. Anyone read/seen Jarhead? He was working alongside that Marine unit at the airport, Taskforce Ripper.

Agreed. That is why I like this site. I am not obsessed with gore purse. I just think it is good to see what happens in reality. War, car accident, etc. people these days are very sheltered.

Ide like to see gory videos of Chicago shootings from one holiday weekend on all news channels. That would wake people up real fuckin quick.

It absolutely would. But people are lazy, mentally especially. "Everything is fine". The average person seeing this site would nope out immediately. They have no concept how easily you can die.

I re-watched that one so many times. Just a phenomenal documentary series.
