From the video it looks like he is using the standard construction grade detchord (it looks to be blue and somewhat stiff, like in the pic im posting, so probably PETN) with grenade fuse system common in the middle east, so he probably didnt have the pin removed and primer ready to go considering how caught off guard they took him.
