I hate to be that guy, but there's a chance this is faked. You can clearly see what looks like a squib on the back of his head, conveniently where the spatter comes from. It's especially obvious in the slow-mo with the arrow pointing right at it. I suppose it could be coincidence that he had a bump there, because there is something coming from the front, but it does look suspicious.

Replay after replay, it looks to me that he fires and a shell ejects forward from the back, along with gas & smoke and then he squats down. I aint seeing that he got hit.
