Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread (Part Zero): 24 Feb - 31 Mar 2022
You are so silly. I hope Chris can find the audio from the phone call by a Russian officer, to his friend back in Russia. 200 out of 500 soldiers in his Russian unit have frostbite. They are having constant problems with their equipment and vehicles due to the cold. They don't have the impact plates for their bulletproof vests, so they are no longer bulletproof, and when they asked a Russian general about getting them, he told them to "just be strong" They have been getting bombed by their own aircraft. They are totally surrounded by Ukrainian forces and cannot move forward. Russian forces don't have enough tents, and they are sleeping in holes in the ground that they have to dig. (Probably the reason for the frostbite numbers.) He was told that the operation would take 4 hours when they went in. 4 weeks later they are still stuck there. Russian government reported 14,500 casualties, and U.S. Intelligence estimates that is accurate, as their analysis showed between 14,000 and 15,000 Russian casualties up to now. The Russian government then took the post down, and replaced it with a post saying casualties had not been accurately determined yet. He described the operation in Ukraine as a "Shitshow" So, yeah, it sounds like the Russians are on the edge of victory, all right. |

Not believing it doesnt make it less likely. There are photographs and videos that are allegedly proving that they are in fact doing it.

Of course. Many Ukranians are of this mindset. Many Syrian Rebels were also. Which is why the Russians are using artillery barrages including thermobaric weapons. Much like we use airstrikes on Islamic fanatics. They change to a weapon system that is long-range, indiscriminate and where the enemy's individual resolve to fight matters much less. It's a ruthless but logical response when faced with stubborn resistance. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread (Part Zero): 24 Feb - 31 Mar 2022
Forbes Magazine today reported that Ukraine has MORE TANKS now, than they had when the invasion started. I always took the farmers driving a tractor with a tank dragging along behind it as kind of a joke, but apparently Ukraine has collected 130 Russian tanks, versus losses of 87 Ukrainian tanks. And dragging tanks with a tractor is apparently very successful, and the best way to move them. Most of them have been recovered by the Ukrainians after they ran out of gas, because the Russian crews are NOT hanging around with a tank that is out of fuel. They skedaddle if they can't get fuel right away. The Ukrainians put them in neutral, and drag them with farm tractors back to be serviced and put back into operation. U.S. intelligence identified the first ex-Russian tank in service to the Ukrainians on March 11th, and they have been counting them up since, based on vehicle serial numbers and markings, by examining photos and videos, including Russian videos. According to Forbes, it takes the Ukrainians about 3 days to service a tank, change the markings, and get it back in operation so they can hand it over to service units. But the Ukrainians have T-72 and T-80 tanks in their inventory, so they have plenty of people who know how to work on them, and plenty of spare parts, that they bought from the Russians previously. Forbes also reported that the Russians are about to activate more conscripts, but said that they will be useless due to lack of current training. Also, the Ukrainians just activated a fresh 150,000 reserve troops, so they will be hitting the front lines in the next week or so. Ukraine took the training of their reserves VERY seriously, and after the 2014 seizures of the first Ukrainian land, they got foreign experts, such as the U.S. Green Berets, in to train their reserves in fighting an urban guerilla war, and how to set up isolated cells of troops for continual operations against the enemy. OH. The pictures and video of the Russian ship blowing up and burning at the docks, are true. Ukraine is now starting to take action against Russian Navy ships, and expect to hit them heavily over the next 3 weeks. The Russian foreign minister stated in an interview today: "They better get used to Russians, because we are STAYING in Ukraine". I think a lot of people took that as a threat, but I interpreted it as saying they will NOT be trying to recover their dead, who will be buried all over Ukraine. NATO Intelligence states the Russians have lost 15,000 dead, and an additional 25,000 wounded or taken prisoner, for total casualties of around 40,000. |

Obviously Putin made a bad judgement or was misinformed by his officers... He called 'all in' and lost. He can't reach his military victory by conquering the cities, they just can't. They are being totally slaughtered. And if he puts more massive destruction weapons on, NATO could intervene. They reached a point of no return. Russian economy is over, for real. Money aside, they'll be banned from everything, from sports to entertainment and new technologies, for the next decades. The world don't tolerate this kind of b**s*** anymore. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread (Part Zero): 24 Feb - 31 Mar 2022
As I have stated many times, the problem here is NOT the regular Russian people, who this war is hurting as well, for no good reason, (other than that they support Putin) The entire problem is caused by Putin and the rest of the remaining SOVIETS, who are in love with the huge Russian Machine from the 1950's and 60's and remember those times as the glory days for the SOVIETS. Putin is trying to back in time to 1957. but those days are passed like water under a bridge, and will never come back. Most of these Russian troops who are being slaughtered in Ukraine, had no idea they were even headed into battle. The problem is all the innocent Russians are going to pay, along with Putin and the oligarchs. |

I couldn't agree more. It's a shame that the majority of the russian people, who disapprove these aggression (I believe so, at least) is paying a huge price for Putin's (and the rest of the Soviet widows) personal war. But I don't see another way to respond, unfortunately. |
