Dang, sorry to hear. Luckily I was stubborn enough to almost always have earpro on, and have no issues, but unless you were wearing the Bose CVCs (the ones prior to this seemingly did nothing for the whine and track noise) with noise cancelling turned on, it was still annoying.

The part that got me was standing by the exhaust for heat and we think breathing in all of that trash is what is causing a lot of tankers (me included) to develop autonomic system problems.

During my first year or so I had the older non Bose CVC's. Then we got the Bose ones. Fortunately I didn't seem to pick up anything nasty other than some mild hearing loss. I bet the infantry guys who we kept warm did.
