1. Warning loud music and sound effects "Drone operators of one of the units of the Armed Forces effectively destroy motor boats and boats that the Russian occupiers took from the civilian population and use them for their own purposes on the left bank of the still occupied Kherson region. The video was transmitted by my colleague in the parliament, Roman Kostenko." 2. "Drone operators continue to chase devils and destroy their vehicles."

Re: Russian Invasion Ukraine. Day: 356/357/358/359 (Feb 15st, 16th, 17th, 18th)
Six RU soldiers in that hole - all cold, all scared, all wondering when and where the next threat is coming. How will it all end? Will they starve, will they freeze, will they be captured, will death come from an adversaries' rifle or - maybe the sky? They were briefed on drones, but that was days or even weeks ago, in the abbreviated boot camp they went through. And here it is, a simple grenade, dropped from a drone. One or two of the soldiers hear something that alerts them to look around. The sound is different than the snow-damped winter breeze that cuts through their knit hats and further stings already cold-damaged nerves on their ears. Nor is it the sound of shivering exhales made through chattering teeth. This, this is different. A high-pitched, steady rasp of propellers joined by one skeletal fuselage with deadly cargo onboard. One of them tells the others to look up. Four of the six see the wispy craft hovered above them. The other two can't or won't look. Payload released, the small yet sinister craft continues to hover as the simple, deadly grenade makes a beeline to their entrenched positions. The craft needs to make a battle damage assessment, as seen through the eyes of the drones' operator, comfortably stationed a kilometer away. One of the four yells "incoming" and begins to tense his muscles for a quick escape - but nothing on him moves. He's been in this position for hours, and the fight-or-flight messages in his brain don't transfer to movement due to the cold. His fellow soldiers can barely look up, and once they do, it's too late. The grenade is in amongst them. The infiltrator has a surprise - a delayed fusing, which gave the six weary soldiers four seconds of hope that they can survive. Scurrying out of the hole would have been the smartest desperate move, yet all they do is cower. The four seconds pass, then a puff and crisp platt that overpressures the hole and sends flechettes and casing into the men. Searing, hot and jagged metal tears through their clothing. They are now all wounded, and the man at our ten o'clock position, likely already suffering from something previous, doesn't even flinch. He then rolls over, like a battleship that's sure to capsize, revealing a wince of pain that is probably unimaginable to a civilian. Two soldiers with leg wounds begin to crawl out of the hole and make it to the last known position of their rally point, past the already frozen body of another one of their group. One soldier thinks "Thank God. It's almost over". One soldier cusses out the drone, the drone operator, the drone maker, the grenade, and the Ukrainian government. Two soldiers wheeze and grunt as they try to absorb the pain. The two on the ground crawling don't know it yet, but their war is over, and they will continue to crawl to the point of exhaustion. One will think of his family, the other will yell profanities at Putin. One soldier closes his eyes, shock altering his vitals, and the warmth of his blood soaking his icy clothing give him momentary respite from the hell that is this war. The soldier at our seven o'clock position is dead. And countries away from the conflict, sitting comfortably behind his keyboard, Ljubodrag will declare this to be a small yet important victory for Mother Russia and her campaign against the evil tyranny that is the Ukrainian government. |
