do you recall the execution of a officer in syria or some such, they captured him, put a detonator inside his helmet, tied him up, and dropped him off a building head first to the ground. saw it 4 years ago but can't find it again. it was a thin guy with a beard, in uniform

It's detcord. You can also use it to blow open doors and sheetrock/drywall
