Explosion at Russian Electrical Substation
I didn't find much information on this. Yet I know it happened in Russia. Looks like an electrical substation. This guy attempts to pull a breaker it looks like, and it explodes in his face.

He survived......what more can he ask for from high voltage. Usually they are dead instantly.

Re: Explosion at Russian Electrical Substation
Accident at the substation "Chui" happened on 13 January. Workers were allowed to removal cells for repair of a power plant but at some point something went wrong, and it caught fire. The fire occurred after the command "disable SR TSN 1" without making sure there is no voltage, there was a powerful electric arc, and the safety system did not work, which led to the burning of the cell. No one was injured. The representative of electric Uysky District Vladimir Chemetov declined to comment on the appearance of the video in the public domain. |

Re: Explosion at Russian Electrical Substation
The specifics weren't given but judging from the stated chain of events I may have an idea about this one. It is standard to disconnect of course for repairs/ upgrades and then power reapplied... Always look away when you flip a breaker or disconnect on just in case something has been improperly wired or configured. He was looking straight on- not good dude

Re: Explosion at Russian Electrical Substation
Guy is wearing all the proper PPE and arc flash clothing and is just fine. Working in transmission line high voltage substations is nothing like residential or light-commercial electrical work. |
