Burst Dam Unleashes Wall of Water Destroying Everything in Its Path
A huge unstoppable mass of brown water and trees bursts over the banks of the Nam Ao River, Laos on September 11. Water crashes into the construction site, sending people fleeing for their lives. A tractor that was swiftly abandoned starts rolling backwards, while a man in a ute tries to get around it. Eventually the entire site is flooded, with the deluge covering cars and construction machinery. Bothong Inter Group, the hydropower company building the dam, denied that the flood was their fault. Chanthong Sanavanh, Bothong’s president, told that it was heavy rain from upstream that caused the nearly-completed dam to overflow, rather than poor design. Fortunately, there have been no deaths or serious injuries reported since the horrific incident. |

Re: Burst Dam Unleashes Wall of Water Destroying Everything in Its Path
Looks like they tried to pile plain old sand and soil up in a near vertical wall...... I don’t think the water pushed it out, more like gravity took over and it just collapsed, then the water got big ideas. |
