Yeti Airlines Crashes a Mile Before Runway in Nepal
In a catastrophic event on January 15, 2023, Yeti Airlines Flight 691, carrying 68 passengers and four crew members, including 15 foreign nationals, crashed just before reaching Pokhara International Airport. All 72 individuals aboard the ATR 72 operated by Yeti Airlines perished when the aircraft went down a mile short of the runway in the tourist city of Pokhara, marking one of the worst airplane accidents in Nepal in three decades. A video taken moments before the tragedy showed the aircraft possibly stalling and dipping its left wing, indicating an aerodynamic stall. It was on a brief 27-minute journey from Kathmandu, and the weather conditions were reported to be clear around 11 a.m. local time. |

Stall spin accident. You can see them pitch up (causing a stall) right before they roll left. That plane should have a stick shaker and pusher to prevent that.

damn, that's a huge loss of lives. Those on board the twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft included three infants and three children, the Civil Aviation Authority's statement said. Passengers included five Indians, four Russians and one Irish, two South Korean, one Australian, one French and one Argentinian citizen. |

Re: Yeti Airlines Crashes a Mile Before Runway in Nepal
From the on-board footage, I think the spin started at 0:51sec when a pax said, "wana wana wana wana," and the impact was at 0:57sec with the first flash of orange fire. A relatively short 6 second period of confusion and terror followed by |

pilot requested in extremis change to runway 12 instead of 30 I think this is the new airport, which only cme into service 01-01-2023. according to Juan Brown: approach bit too slow, entering (left wing) stall, then wrongly extended left aileron, but he should have applied more right rudder |
