Re: Small Plane Strikes A Giraffe As it Attempts To Land
that looks like an old cessna 150 or an early cessna 172em, used to work on both a lot...its very easy to get distracted it aircraft like this...have to watch the instraments, get the proper attitude, key the radio, and pay attention to the runway center. its impossible to look straight down in aircraft, and pretty hard to see whats in front of you for at least 50'. that giraffe probably came from nowhere scared or pissed at the aircraft and ran into it. hitting deer, coyotes, and sometimes bear and cattle is really more common than you think. dont ask about looking thru the windows on the doors...eyes stay focused on the approaching runway to judge wind and to not become part of the landscape. one more thing...low wing aircraft land on top of high winged aircraft all the time at uncontrolled airports. |
