Pretty sure those are crop fields that don't have grass in them. Depending on the crop and field condition, the pilot would be concerned that the plane would immediately dig in on the wheels and flip end over end. As this accident goes, if they hadn't steered into a building, they might have survived. |

They didn't kill any other people except themselves, correct? It is very easy to sit in our armchairs and whatever else we plant our asses in and criticize the choices this pilot made... But none of us were there and in the situation, and it's not likely that any of us have been in a similar circumstance. I'm willing to guess none of us have a license to fly a plane either... but I could be wrong. That pilot did exactly what he thought he could do in the situation he was in. I'll wait to say "coulda, woulda, shoulda" for when I become a pilot and survive a similar situation. Like everything in life, it could have been a whole lot better, but it could have been a whole lot worse.
