Pilot Bud Holland & The B-52 Crash At Fairchild Air Force Base
A catastrophic aviation accident occurred on June 24, 1994, at the Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington, involving a United States Air Force (USAF) Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. The crash, which resulted in the loss of four crew members, was a consequence of the aircraft being maneuvered beyond its operational limits. Lieutenant Colonel Arthur "Bud" Holland was piloting the B-52H Stratofortress while practicing for an upcoming air show at the base. During this practice session, Lt. Col. Holland attempted a maneuver that exceeded the capabilities of the aircraft. This led to a tragic turn of events, as the B-52H, while making a steep banking turn at a low altitude, stalled and plummeted to the ground, resulting in a massive fireball upon impact. The crash tragically took the lives of Lt. Col. Holland and the three other officers on board. The incident marked a dark chapter in the history of Fairchild Air Force Base and raised serious questions about leadership and operational safety in high-risk military aviation exercises. |

Re: Pilot Bud Holland & The B-52 Crash At Fairchild Air Force Base
Can anyone tell me how that could happen? Was it a technical problem? Edit: Oh, thanks wikipedia. "Bud Holland, who was the command pilot of the aircraft based at Fairchild Air Force Base, flew the aircraft beyond its operational limits and lost control." |

Re: Pilot Bud Holland & The B-52 Crash At Fairchild Air Force Base
Bud Holland had a reputation for being a real hot dog pilot and this flight was no exception. He wasn't the wing commander of this base, just of this specific flight. He should have been grounded years before for breaking safety & flight rules. It's ashame his arrogance cost 3 other officers their lives because this asshole thought he was able to play Top Gun in a B-52... |

Re: Pilot Bud Holland & The B-52 Crash At Fairchild Air Force Base
Yeah, us USAF personnel new and old are reminded once and a while of how erragance, immature, careless, reckless, and just plain stupid can get more that yourself killed, and he is on the list of ill-examples of stupidity. His name will forever be tarnished. No matter how many Article-15s that ass has gotten, he has always pulled the "good-ole-boys" card.

Re: Pilot Bud Holland & The B-52 Crash At Fairchild Air Force Base
After reading the comments, I checked and sure enough, the CP was a jackass and knew that the plane wasn't capable of doing his bad-ass flying "skills". Poor crew. Fuck him.
