Bodies Recovered From Lao Airlines Flight 301
On October 16, 2013, Lao Airlines Flight 301 was involved in a tragic accident near Pakse Airport in Laos. The aircraft was on a domestic flight from Vientiane-Wattay Airport to Pakse Airport. Unfortunately, all 49 people on board, including 44 passengers and 5 crew members, lost their lives in the accident. The flight was cleared for a VOR-DME non-precision approach to runway 15 at Pakse Airport. However, the crew incorrectly set the altitude preselect (ALT SEL) mode to 600 feet, which was below the minimum descent altitude. Due to poor visibility and inability to see the ground at 600 feet, the crew disconnected the autopilot and attempted a missed approach. During this process, the aircraft began losing altitude and entered a steep descent, ultimately impacting the Mekong River. The fuselage broke apart and sank in the river. The investigation into the crash identified several contributing factors. The primary cause was determined to be the sudden change in weather conditions and the flight crew's failure to properly execute the published instrument approach and missed approach procedure. Additional contributing factors included the decision to continue the approach below the published minima, selection of an altitude below the minima, possible somatogravic illusions experienced by the pilot flying, and inadequate monitoring of primary flight parameters during the go-around.  · |

I`ve seen too much Aircrash Investigations, flying now is a hell of a lot more exiting than comfort, midair antlantic from Cancun to Oslo we got smoke in the cabin, my balls went to the size of marbles in a split second. Luckily its was just the videosystem overloading.
