It's absolutely awful. But I wonder even if the photographer HAD got food or water for the child whether that would have helped him survive. It looks like he was pretty much near dead. It's not the photographers fault if they were told they could not interfere, but I am not surprised he killed himself after. So sad. All of the pics Amy posted are really poignant. |

Great photos, I can't say which one is the best in my opinion, but if I had to choose then I'd go with the one taken by Jeff Widener in Tiananmen Square. Carter said that he waited 20 minutes, hoping that the vulture would fly away, but it didn't: so he took the photo then he chased the vulture away.But he was criticised for just photographing (and not helping) the little girl And according to another journalist, Carter approached the little girl very slowly, for not scaring the vulture, took a couple of photos and then the vulture flew off. Of course his life was touched by what he saw there: the first time that I've been in a poor country I felt useless. I add this one: A Mother and Son After the Bombing of Nagasaki |
