Tongue Eating Parasite
This parasite enters fish through the gills, and then attaches itself at the base of the fish's tongue. The female attaches to the tongue and the male attaches on the gill arches beneath and behind the female. The parasite destroys the fish's tongue, and then attaches itself to the stub of what was once its tongue and becomes the fish's new tongue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cymothoa_exigua |

Re: Tongue Eating Parasite
Nasty but one of the cutest faces of a parasite I've seen :D My God, imagine something like that in us. Eating away our tongue, can't be removed, becoming our tongue then feeding off our fluids. That's David Cronenberg stuff!! |

Re: Tongue Eating Parasite
That's just bizarre. How does something like that ever evolve? Thanks for the post!
