This terrible accident really upsets me when I think about it. I wasn't even around then and knew no-one connected. I think it's just the tremendous loss of loved ones and the whole sorry mess trying to evacuate.

It was the 9/11 of the time in it's own way - lives lost-wise I mean. I certainly don't mean to disrespect either tragedy

The film makes me go to pieces as I imagine what I'd do with regards to my husband & family. I'd rather stay in the bedroom, holding each other and drown together.

I visited Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and saw the graveyard, it was surprisingly emotional considering I knew no-one.

I have heard that by the way the boots or shoes lay on the bottom someone was in them before they once again became part of the earth!

i would have fought with everything i had to get myself and my family out of there alive. barring that, hypothermia would have been a better death than drowning.

If Im not mistaken, very few died from drowning.They did indeed freeze to death.Even though there were lifeboats very close by.
