Polish President's Plane Crashes, April 10, 2010
On April 10, 2010, Poland was plunged into mourning as a tragic plane crash claimed the lives of the country's President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, and 94 members of the government and clergy. The crash occurred near the Russian city of Smolensk, casting a pall of grief over the nation. I'm from Poland. What happened is a real tragedy, my contry lost the most important persons - almost 100 peoples. Nobody survive this crash.

Beautiful photos there. Thanks for putting that together for us. On the note of the mourning, I just wonder, does it feel slightly weird or alien to anyone else to see people weeping over their lost politicians? I just can't imagine my countryfolk reacting the same way if the likes of Gordon Brown died. Not that they aren't capable of mass mourning (Diana...), but it just doesn't seem the sort of reaction we'd have over our politicial, military and religious leaders if they were to die like this. How do you guys think you and your country would react if this happened to your country? |
