Oh wow you have been, thats excellent. WW2 and Holocaust stuff absolutely fascinates me. I have spent many a late night just reading up on personal accounts of death camp survivors and documentaries. I would love to pay a visit one day. Thanks OP for the pics. |

Did a bathroom refurb for a lady and husband in the early 90s. On the friday evening the lady was cooking pilchard fish cakes , which i thought smelled yum. After me telling the woman that i thought the fish cakes looked lovley . She started to tell me that as a very young girl in the Auschwitz camp "This is all we had too eat (meaning cold rotten pilchards) She also went on to say that she cooks these every friday as a mark of respect to her parents who both died in Auschwitz. humbled is a bit of a understatement. (her eyes started to fill up, i had to leave her kitchen and ptretend i hadnt seen her tears) |
