My understanding is that severe anorexics can no longer produce the enzymes needed for digestion. I saw a tv programme about a lifelong anorexic woman in her mid-thirties who had to eat this special "food" that was already partially digested liquid because she could no longer eat anything. I think I'd just rather be dead at that point. It's so sad

I have no idea how her body is still functioning to any degree. It's amazing what a body can be put through and still keep going. She looks absolutely awful and how anyone can aspire to be like that defies logic.

I've nearly lost my very dear friend to this disease, and it almost snagged me in it's grips as well. It's horrendous and I can empathize with those who suffer from it.

It's a sad existence, and you aren't really even living life. Many do it as a form of control, and in turn they end up being supremely controlled themselves.
